Blurred red and pink hearts in a dark background

Embracing both a soft and hard heart.

One of Yoda’s statements: Your path you must decide. Our daily life, deciding the path of each moment. In the journey of life, we navigate through a complex mix of choices and challenges. As Yoda wisely said, “Your path you must decide.” This counsel, on appearance, seems so easy. Just say yes or no! So obvious. The hidden or subtle aspects lying obscured within the obvious are the influences about deciding our path, which guides our daily moment to moment interactions. These subtleties include awareness of the significance of balancing compassion and resilience in our decision-making process. The world we inhabit is a mixture of both goodness and hardships, and it is up to us to harmonize these contrasting elements as we shape our destinies.

Every decision we make contributes to the sways away from and that which draws us in to the path of our existence. Approaching these choices with a soft heart allows us to cultivate empathy and understanding. It’s the capacity to connect with others, to feel their joys and pains, that empowers us to make decisions that resonate with compassion. Simultaneously, a hard heart grants us the strength to endure the trials that life inevitably presents. This resilience aids in overcoming challenges and persevering through difficulties, reminding us that the path we choose isn’t always easy, but it is ours to navigate, nonetheless.

Amidst this dynamic world, imbued with both light and shadow, the quest for purpose and meaning becomes paramount. We must integrate this pursuit into our decisions, lest we find ourselves adrift without a guiding star. Deciphering the purpose of our existence and infusing our choices with meaning infuses our lives with a profound sense of direction. Whether through acts of kindness that uplift others or through the pursuit of our passions that bring us fulfillment, each step taken on this path contributes to the legacy we leave behind.

In the end, Yoda’s wisdom reminds us that the journey is a delicate balance between the heart’s tenderness and the spirit’s fortitude. The world’s dual nature should not deter us, but rather encourage us to find equilibrium within it. Guided by a conscious choice to live purposefully and infuse meaning into our decisions, we traverse the intricate labyrinth of existence, leaving behind a trail of compassion, strength, and enduring significance.

“Thy Kingdom Come” serves as an invocation, a profound call to allow the spiritual counsel to illuminate our lives. Just as the softness of a heart metaphorically mirrors the gentleness of unclouded intention, so too does the hardness of a heart symbolize the obstinacy that can cloud our connection to the divine.

Drawing a parallel to the journey of Yoda in the Star Wars series, we find a remarkable illustration of this concept. Even the wise and venerable Yoda, a master of the Force, encountered moments of missteps. Yet, he remained resolute on his path of training and self-discovery. Like our own journey towards embracing the divine, Yoda’s story teaches us that mistakes are not a sign of failure but rather steppingstones on the path to growth and wisdom.

In the grand design of existence, our human nature is both soft and hard — capable of tenderness and rigidity. By allowing the counsel of the spiritual, “Thy Kingdom Come,” — Prayers of the Cosmos (Neil Douglas Klotz-1990) we invite a transformation that harmonizes these aspects. Just as Yoda’s persistence ultimately led to ongoing mastery, our unwavering commitment to unclouded intention, despite occasional missteps, paves the way for a profound connection with the divine, during our everyday existence.

Thus, in our journey, let us emulate the lessons of both the underlying Aramaic intent of “Thy Kingdom Come” and Yoda’s enduring wisdom. Let our hearts be pliable, softened by the intention to align with the divine guidance, and let our hearts be strong, resolute against the clouds of doubt and distraction. For in this balance lies the path to embracing the divine, where our journey transforms into a sacred dance of growth, insight, and the blossoming of our truest selves.
